What is an EAP?
EAP stands for Employee Assistance Program. It's a worksite-based program designed to:

  1. Assist work organizations in addressing productivity issues.
  2. Assist employees in identifying and resolving personal concerns that may affect job performance and the ability to perform on the job.

Who will know that I am participating in the EAP? Will my employer be told of my participation in the program?
No one will be told of your involvement in the program, including your employer, unless you sign a Release of Information giving your written consent to disclose such information. This form will specify the name of the person you are allowing to be told of your participation in the program.

How much will the EAP visits cost me?
Your employer pays for the initial visit(s). If after the initial EAP visit(s) you are referred for additional services, in most cases they will be covered by your healthcare plan.

Can members of my family use the program?
Yes, members of your immediate family are eligible to receive services from the EAP. Generally, this means if a family member is eligible to receive healthcare benefits they would also be eligible for EAP services.

You say the program is completely confidential. Just how confidential is it?
An individual's involvement in the program is not disclosed to anyone without a specific written consent signed by the individual participating in the EAP. The only exception is when a situation exists that is deemed potentially "life-threatening".

Can I reach the EAP after normal business hours?
Yes, the toll free number 1.800.248.1688 is answered 24 hours a day. If you call after the office has closed, the phone is answered by a professional answering service. In the event of an emergency, we will be notified immediately. If there is not an emergency, your call will be returned the next business day to arrange for your EAP appointment.
